The Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA) is pleased to announce the release of a new online training course: Streaming Monetization 101, now available through SVTA University. Developed in collaboration with streaming industry educator and analyst Jan Ozer, the course is designed to provide foundational knowledge for professionals working across the business side of the streaming ecosystem. With over 50 lessons spanning seven hours of content, Streaming Monetization 101 offers structured, practical training for those in product management, marketing, partnerships, content programming, ad operations, and other business-facing roles. The course covers the business models, technologies, and execution strategies that underpin monetization across SVOD, AVOD, FAST, vMVPD, and hybrid platforms.
One of the course’s key goals is to close the onboarding gap many organizations face when bringing new team members into the complex, often siloed world of streaming. From pricing and bundling strategies to ad tech fundamentals like programmatic workflows and server-side ad insertion, the course builds fluency across a range of disciplines. It is designed to help learners contribute faster and collaborate more effectively across teams.
In addition to core concepts, the course includes real-world examples drawn from major platforms such as Hulu, Peacock, Prime Video, and smaller niche services. Learners gain insights into how monetization models influence content strategy, platform architecture, user experience, and revenue outcomes. A section on data and privacy frameworks addresses the regulatory realities that shape today’s monetization strategies.
