Why Did Neustar Join the Streaming Video Technology Alliance?

As a trusted, neutral provider of real-time information services, we joined to work alongside the Streaming Video Alliance to define geo-location data best practices for content delivery as demand and consumption continues to grow. Neustar’s comprehensive security portfolio which includes IP decisioning data, DNS insights and threat data, DDoS mitigation and authoritative and recursive DNS solutions, helps us ensure organizations are well positioned to deliver uninterrupted content. These solutions enable customers, including leaders in the OTT/streaming media industry, such as Major League Baseball (now Disney+), to provide a seamless and secure online streaming experience.

What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?

The alliance’s dedication to helping solve the critical challenges facing online video in order to provide a better end-user experience, was the impetus behind Neustar’s decision to join the group. Even the most advanced content delivery platform that is designed to deliver IPTV, OTT, VOD and LTE broadcast media is only as good at the IP geolocation decisioning data at its foundation. Our ability to work with other members as they moved to adopt the new IPv6 addressing standard, led us to work as part of the GEO Working Group Committee and ultimately to assist in the development of the alliance’s Geo-Data for IPv6 Functional Specification.

How Does an Organization Like the SVTA Bring Value to the Industry?

The COVID-19 pandemic is driving rapid growth in the demand for streaming video.
