Why Did NPAW Join the Streaming Video Technology Alliance?
NPAW has been part of the streaming industry since July 2008, first as an OTT platform and later as a video analytics provider for streaming services. In the Streaming Video Alliance, we found a space to share ideas and discuss the best path forward with other key players in the industry. As the leading video intelligence company, our goal is to help streaming providers overcome the critical challenges the industry is facing through real-time data insights. That is exactly what the SVA aims to do with its educational and solutions-focused programs, so it was a perfect fit. As part of the Alliance, we can contribute to and spearhead collective initiatives to help the industry provide the best streaming experience possible.
What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?
The streaming industry’s biggest technical challenge is optimizing quality of experience and quality of service based on parameters such as user behavior, network performance, device, and regional requirements. Faced with growing competition and increasingly discerning viewers, streaming providers need to understand how to best allocate their resources to reduce churn and maximize efficiencies. That requires access to reliable, real-time data insights into the entire user journey and the end-to-end delivery of content. From determining target bitrate for each device and user segment to choosing the best CDN based on business requirements, data is key for services to maintain a competitive edge.
