Streaming Video Alliance Convenes in New Jersey for Quarterly Member Meeting

Nokia Hosts Q4 Alliance Member Meeting at its Campus

 

FREMONT, CA–(Marketwired – Nov 30, 2017) – The Streaming Video Alliance (the Alliance), an industry forum comprised of leading companies from the online video ecosystem, hosts its fourth quarterly member meeting today in Murray Hill, New Jersey. Alliance members will gather at Nokia’s campus for a day of industry discussions and Working Group meetings. The keynote and welcome will be delivered by Paul Larbey, Head of IP Video Business Unit at Nokia and Marcus Weldon, CTO and President of Nokia Bell Labs. At today’s meeting, the Alliance welcomes new members, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Espial Group, and Friend MTS.

Major milestones for the Alliance in 2017

 

• The first trials of the Alliance’s Compliant Open Caching Systems were deployed in ISP networks.
• A new, Multicast ABR POC was issued to address 4K streaming to OTT devices over a closed Multicast network (Cable, IPTV), and a white paper on this topic is in the works.
• The Open Caching Working Group produced two new technical specifications, Logging and Service Provisioning.
• A new Membership Grant Program was introduced, and next month, the Alliance will announce the recipients of the first annual Membership grants.
• For the second year in a row, the Alliance hosted its Q3 member meeting in Europe, this year in Amsterdam at the Liberty Global campus.
• The Alliance is building significant momentum with OTT (over-the-top) industry leaders and has been experiencing an explosive growth in membership from OTT companies.
