Streaming Audio Study Group

As we begin, our initial goal within the study group is to develop a charter that is comprehensive enough to cover the topics below while providing enough structure for us to produce some clear work product from the group in 2024. Some areas of exploration that we’ll explore include:
    • Video & Audio vs. Stand-Alone Audio Requirements – How Are These Treated Differently?
    • Perceptive Audio Quality & Standardized Quality Analysis – What impact does adaptive bitrate delivery have on the audio quality an end user receives? How does this user perceive the different bitrates?
    • High Quality Audio for Music vs. Speech vs. Video – What considerations exist for these different use cases?
    • Accessibility – There are a wealth of different accessibility options developed for or adjacent to audio, how can these best be considered within a streaming audio environment? Metadata & Audio – How are the different standards currently being leveraged within the industry?
We are hoping to identify a few tracks to begin study on and work to create a clear output in the first part of the year.
