Why Did Broadpeak Join the Streaming Video Technology Alliance?

From its inception in 2010, Broadpeak has been working on bringing together streaming platforms and network service providers. We saw in the SVA a great place to work with the leaders in the industry and to bring together OTT Streaming and broadband networks.

What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?

The biggest technical challenge facing the streaming video industry is scale. Subscription VOD platforms and Live Sports Streaming are driving forces that threaten the old way of delivering video streams. Advanced technology such as Deep edge caching and Multicast ABR are necessary if, as end users, we want to keep watching the content we love with a compelling experience. We believe this is what streaming at its peak will look like and we are convinced this is where the SVA can help.

How Does an Organization Like the SVTA Bring Value to the Industry?

Collaboration between Content providers and Network Service Providers is a condition for the streaming industry to keep thriving. We believe the SVA is instrumental in defining the standard protocols and best practices that will allow the two of them to partner for the sake of the end user experience. This is an area where Broadpeak has been working hard with the other SVA members in order to connect streaming platforms and broadband network operators.
