Why Did Uplynk Join the Streaming Video Technology Alliance?

Limelight joined the Streaming Video Alliance so that we could work shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s best companies and minds to solve some of the most complex challenges associated with streaming media online. Engaging with the working groups in the Alliance gives us an opportunity to identify and create solutions that make a difference to our industry and ensures Limelight is directly involved in creating these best practices.

What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?

There are many challenges in the OTT video delivery value chain today, and the Streaming Video Alliance working groups address a broad range of them. The one common area the Alliance can help address is the “how” – how do we implement solutions to common problems in a consistent way? Being able to describe best practices and provide implementation guides is a vital role that the Alliance plays in the complex OTT video industry.

How Does an Organization Like the SVTA Bring Value to the Industry?

The Alliance brings people together to focus on the challenges we face in the industry as the OTT market matures. Whilst it’s not a standards body, bringing the companies involved in creating, scaling and delivering OTT video together to work on the industry’s challenges creates the opportunity to identify how to make things work in practice, in a common and repeatable way. This has value to the industry by helping to simplify and co-ordinate the implementation of solutions that help us all deliver great video experiences.
