Our company actively participates in various standardization and research organizations. As committed members of DASH-IF, we aimed to continue contributing to the organization’s efforts post-merger and engage with additional working groups as well.

What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?

SVTA is well positioned to catalog the relevant standards for each interface in a streaming workflow for different use cases. Having an up-to-date catalog of the relevant standards is very useful for the industry and it helps members of SVTA to focus on interfaces that need specifications.

There is market fragmentation in streaming, unfortunately, because multiple SDOs have been defining standards relevant to streaming industry participants, and reducing that fragmentation could be something SVTA can help with.

The continued support of reference implementations such as dash.js is also an extremely important contribution that the SVTA can make to the industry. Reference implementations help reduce market fragmentation.

How Does an Organization Like the SVTA Bring Value to the Industry?

Having a focal point for resolving technical discrepancies between implementations of streaming workflow components is very valuable to the industry. SVTA can be that focal point.
