Why Did NS1 Join the Streaming Video Technology Alliance?

As a provider of intelligent traffic steering technology and an integration partner with industry-leading quality of experience monitoring solutions, NS1 is a critical part of the streaming media value chain. In addition to serving many of the streaming industry’s largest content providers, the NS1 team and technology have been instrumental in supporting major live streaming events.

In our commitment to helping streaming service providers deliver the best experiences, we route traffic to optimal CDNs based upon real user performance data, ensuring an optimal viewing experience.

It takes a community of providers to deliver great streaming video experiences at the scale, resilience, and performance required for today’s rapidly growing audience sizes. We joined the Alliance to collaborate with others in the industry who are equally focused on solving these challenges.

What Do You Believe is the Biggest Technical Challenge Facing the Streaming Video Industry the SVTA Can Help Address?

We believe the biggest technical challenge is providing a high quality viewing experience, globally and at scale. In particular, more work needs to be done to improve the viewer experience outside well-served regions, as well as performance for users in the long tail. The Alliance can help address this challenge by bringing together partners from each part of the stack, allowing for greater visibility into performance – and in turn, improvement in the overall end-user experience.

How Does an Organization Like the SVTA Bring Value to the Industry?

The Alliance brings together the best problem solvers across the video ecosystem to work toward a common goal of improving video delivery and ultimately, the viewer experience. Given the multiple technologies and vendors involved in streaming video to large audiences at scale, universal standards are necessary to make collaboration easier. The Alliance is helping to lead the charge on this initiative.
